Austrian Association of Modern Greek Studies (ÖGNS)

The Austrian Association of Modern Greek Studies (ÖGNS) was founded in 1988 to support the academic study of Greece. The association promotes academic discussion on all aspects of modern Greek history, literature and language. The ÖGNS aims to make the discussion accessible to young scholars and the interested public and to serve as an information platform for its members. For this reason, it emphasises interdisciplinary cooperation with other academic institutions at home and abroad. It is a founding member of the European umbrella organisation European Association for Modern Greek Studies and a member of the Association of Academic Societies in Austria. The society regularly organises lectures. Since 1987, the annual journal Mitteilungen aus der Österreichischen Byzantinistik und Neogräzistik has been published by the University Institute and the Society.

The annual fee
for members is € 30.00 for students € 15.00 per year.

Regular lectures, coordination of scientific research,
Participation in the activities of the European Association for Modern Greek Studies.

The 7th European Congress of Modern Greek Studies is co-organized by the University of Vienna (Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies), the European Society of Modern Greek Studies (EENS), and the Austrian Society of Modern Greek Studies (ÖGNS).
